Ether Frolic is a collection of 9 songs, most of which were written in the past two years after the acquisition of a lovely Yamaha 8-track recorder and some other fun toys. The genre of the music is essentially modern rock with various styles within this genre represented on this CD. In order to properly appreciate the contents of this web site, certain information becomes necessary.

Some background. For the most part, Trout is just this guy somewhere in Connecticut named John Rescigno. By day he is a Neurologist (no, really) with a wife and son. By night he sits in his room and makes music happen. He's done lots of music, starting most ignobly with trumpet in 4th grade, but now considers himself the master of guitar, piano, drums, flute, bass, vocals and (quite possibly) the entire universe. Outside of rock music, Trout has also composed a clarinet concerto scored for chamber orchestra, a series of chorales and was forced to pen some perfectly evil 12-tone music by a composition professor. His other interests include web page design (as you can see), computer gaming and making harassing phone calls.

Trout does not work in a vacuum (in fact, scientific theory predicts he would explode should he do so!) Ether Frolic has benefitted from the creative inputs of several other people. In the order of their appearance on the CD, they are:

Kathleen Tilstra: Kathy is the pianist/keyboardist from the band Parsec who lends her fingers and voice to several songs.

April Rescigno: April is John/Trout's wife who, in addition to being a science teacher, plays the flute on 'Turned to Sand.'

Erik DeValk: Erik is the guitarist and singer for Broken Toys and, in addition to co-writing, singing and playing guitar on a couple of the songs, is the Masterful Master of Digital Mastering for this CD. Words alone cannot do justice to the magic he worked on Ether Frolic, so suffice it to say, "Praise his name!"

Chrystal Struble: Chrysy is the bassist for Broken Toys and lends her voice and bass to a couple of the songs on Ether Frolic.

Mike Botsford: Mike is the percussionist for Broken Toys and it's him you hear tapping the cans on 'Prior Convictions'.

So that ought to be enough to get you started. Trout is always happy to receive email, so if this page or its contents or the CD or whatever makes you smile, or raises questions, or boils the blood, or whatever, feel free to drop him a note at trout@other.org.
